SAXWORKS LLC is a Silicon Valley California based company focused on innovative components for woodwind musical instruments.
In the mid 1999s the first edition of SAXWORKS combined the acoustic and musical talents of New York City based John Purcell with the engineering and manufacturing expertise of Joel Harrison. We designed and made the DAVID SANBORN branded metal mouthpieces which are still highly regarded today.
After a restart in 2009 Joel has been primarily focused upon improving the performance of the woodwind ligature. After hundreds of experiments a dozen models we have concluded that the best performing ligatures clamp the reed tightly and do not dampen reed and mouthpiece vibrations. Our new Clarity ligature achieves these goals.
